Some Christians including myself sometimes lose courage for various reasons. There are many Christians that sit on the sidelines thinking or feeling that they are not commissioned to spread the Word of GOD. This is not so….1Ptr.4:10-11. You know that you are saved, share your testimony as to how JESUS found you, because it was you that was lost and needed finding not JESUS. You don’t need to have a pulpit to share JESUS with anyone; this is a conversation that can be spoken about regarding every subject. For me I grow lack in courage when I am tired or not doing well in my body, which means the last thing I want to do is speak about is JESUS.

When we all feel a wee bit discouraged I have some VitaScriptures that I would like to share with you that will encourage you so you may encourage others.
Isaiah 41:10 & 43:5; Jeremiah 1:8 and Acts 18:10

1 Timothy 6:2Being an Evangelist especially one that travels. I rarely know of the effect that GOD has caused on a person through using me. When I was still employed several years ago I had questioned a co-worker of mine about some music that he was listening to. On July 13, 2009 I spoke with that person for the first time since my retirement in 2001. He refreshed my memory about the effect of his listening choices from that day on. In the manner in which he explained it.

I overheard him singing and asked him what he was singing (probably because I couldn’t understand what he was saying, not gifted to sing…LOL). He replied that he was listening to Black Sabbath. Now I had not heard any songs from Black Sabbath in many years (1970’s) but I vaguely remembered that the music was popular because hippies was dropping acid and doing all kinds of drugs.

After listening I took the head-phones off and asked do you actually know what is being said, he replied…no. I informed him that this song was being sung about and too satan. He began to listen again off and on for about an hour. He said that for the first time he actually did hear the words very clearly just as if the group was speaking the words to him. When I asked him the day that we spoke was he listening to that music any more or anything like it. He said NO. The songs that where in his music library over the years is being deleted of songs that glorify satan. Because now he actually has his ears tuned to the words and not just the music. Music in and of itself is great but there are times when songs that we like a great deal will have to be instrumental because of the lyrics.

This really encouraged me, because GOD used me to plant a seed that would direct him to another who will water the seed and he will one day accept JESUS for himself. GOD, I thank YOU for using me, please continue.

Now though I know that the scripture that I used had nothing to do with why I was encouraged, I just wanted to share that with you.

As Born Again Christians who work it is our duty to work as though we are working for JESUS, HIMSELF. It bothers me that when we have a BAC Manager, as non-management we think that we should not give him/her the respect they deserve with the authority that he/she has over us. We are not given a free pass to shirk our responsibilities. What we should do is work the more so that others will see that BAC have an attitude of respect and perseverance where we will be known for getting any job set before us done without complaint. It also bothers me that when we don’t have a BAC Manager, we think that we should not respect him/her because we think we are above them. We are not. We should by our actions do all to draw the non-believing Manager towards us because of our diligence. It will be our example of character that will cause a dialogue of why we are the way we are.

Christians were not to suppose that religious knowledge, or Christian privileges, gave them any right to despise heathen masters, or to disobey lawful commands, or to expose their faults to others. And such as enjoyed the privilege of living with believing masters, were not to withhold due respect and reverence, because they were equal in respect to religious privileges, but were to serve with double diligence and cheerfulness, because of their faith in Christ, and as partakers of
his free salvation.

Come on my brothers & sisters, let’s win some souls today.

Apprehensive; fear or hesitate to believe.

Wow; aren’t these the very things that GOD said not to be?

Another word for apprehension is “worry”.

Matthew 6:25; 27; 28; 31 & 34.

Mark 4:40; Luke 12:5 “fear”

Another way of saying hesitates to believe is “nonbelief”.

2 Corinthians 6:15; 1 Peter 4:3-4

There is a small difference with having uncertainty and having doubt.

When one is uncertain it’s largely due to the fact that we don’t have all the facts to a situation.

When one is in doubt it’s because we have all the information; however; we choose to ignore what we have been armed with according to that knowledge and rebel towards what it is that we really want.

Here are some great examples I witnessed in my life.

  • An owner of a vehicle is warned on his dashboard that it’s time to have his engine checked. He ignores the warning light. Because of this there are other things that will go wrong under the bonnet of the automobile because all the mechanical parts have to work harder than necessary. When the driver is forced to take the automobile to a mechanic it’s because the vehicle has stopped operating and now the vehicle has to be towed.

This person operated in doubt; he did not believe that his vehicle would have further problems nor that it would stop running due to neglect.

Another scenario that I’ve witnessed was.

  • During times of rain; a home owner noticed that water was being heard on the ceiling in a manner that was not noticeable before. As a precautionary measure the home owner called a roofer to take a look at his roof. Good thing too; there was a soft spot on the roof that could have created major problems had the home owner not used good judgment.

This person operated in uncertainty; however, the homeowner used facts that water could be heard clearly.

As you grow in grace you may feel uncertain about GOD; realign yourself with these scriptures.

Blessed are those who trust in The LORD and have made The LORD their hope and confidence. Jeremiah 17:7

We are always confident; for we live by faith and not by sight.

2 Corinthians 5:6-7

Some of us have moments where we lack confidence in you. Stop that because JESUS has confidence in you.

I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, “May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,” and it will happen. You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.

Matthew 21:21-22

Does anyone understand…

Does Anyone Understand Why I Do The Things I Do?

Hebrews 4:15-16

Before I begin to explain why we do the things we do. I want to share some definitions to a few words, this will give us proper understanding.

Tempt = to try and make a person do something; appeal strongly; attract; provoke

Tempter = the devil; the enemy; satan

Tempting = alluring; inviting

Temptation = to do something you’re attracted to that you know is wrong

Hebrews 4:15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but ONE who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.

What does this mean that we do not have a high priest? First understand that JESUS is The High Priest. Hebrews 2:17 Therefore, HE had to be made like HIS brethren in all things, so that HE might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to GOD, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

JESUS was tempted in all things. Oh really, you may be thinking, I am tempted by addiction which can be anything to everything, so I will not label anyone thing. Let’s look first at how Eve was tempted before we look at how JESUS was tempted. I want us to see how the enemy has not changed his role in the attack. He may change the words but the meaning is still the same, he has an ever changing cast but the plot is still the same.

Genesis 3:1-6 Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD GOD had made. And he said to the woman, “Indeed, has GOD said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?” The woman said to the serpent, “From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, GOD has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or touch it or you will die.” The serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die! “For GOD knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened and you will be like GOD, knowing good and evil.” When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.

Okay, I’ve shown you how Eve was tempted but let’s go back further. I want you to understand what was actually said between GOD and Adam.

Genesis 2:16-17 The LORD GOD commanded the man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.”

Now we see just what GOD commanded Adam. So what went wrong? Does anyone understand why I do the things I do?

Let’s look at the following errors with Eve.

  1. A beast spoke
  2. GOD did not say “or touch it”
  3. Eve did not mention a particular tree, yet the enemy referred to the fact that she will know good and evil.
  4. The tree of life was also in the middle of the garden, Gen. 2:9 why didn’t the enemy make reference to that tree?
  5. Eve saw, which means she gazed long enough for her imagination to take over. The fruit became alluring; attractive and inviting. Eve desired the fruit, Eve wished for the fruit, Eve thought that the fruit was worth having, the fruit was pleasing and good. Eve’s lust was so strong it became real to her because she could actually see and taste for herself the fruit.

Now let’s get back to JESUS. The enemy spoke to JESUS as well, however notice that JESUS did not engage him in conversation as Eve had.

Matthew 4:1-11, Then JESUS was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after HE had fasted forty days and forty nights, HE then became hungry. And the tempter came and said to HIM, “If YOU are the SON of GOD, command that these stones become bread.” But HE answered and said, “It is written, Deut 8:3 Man will not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of GOD.’” Then the devil took HIM into the holy city and had HIM stand on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to HIM, “If YOU are the SON of GOD, throw YOURSELF down; for it is written, Psalm 91:11-12 HE will command HIS angels concerning YOU; and ‘on their hands they will bear YOU up, so that YOU will not strike YOUR foot against a stone.” JESUS said to him, “it is written, Deut 6:16 You shall not put the LORD your GOD to the test.” Again, the devil took HIM to a very high mountain and showed HIM all the kingdoms of the world and their glory; and he said to HIM, “All these things I will give YOU, if YOU fall down and worship me.” Then JESUS said to him, “Go, satan! For it is written, Deut 6:13; 10:20 You shall worship the LORD your GOD, and serve HIM only.” Then the devil left Him; and behold, angels came and began to minister to HIM.

In the above scripture it is found errors made by the enemy.

  1. The enemy tried to make JESUS question who HE really is, why is HE alone and hungry. Notice: If YOU are the SON of GOD. When you are in a wilderness experience you are alone and it’s a lonely situation and or place to the point where you will lose your mind. JESUS had not eaten, HE had not had anything to drink and HE was alone of human companionship. The enemy challenged JESUS to prove who HE is.
  2.  The enemy tried again to make JESUS question who HE is, and to test if GOD would allow any harm to come to HIS SON.
  3. The enemy tried to play on what JESUS is familiar with, living in full luxury and now without anything, so he thought.

Notice that each time the enemy said anything to JESUS about something that he knew JESUS was struggling with JESUS came back with The Word. JESUS struggled with being lonely of human companionship, being hungry and thirsty yet in HIS most weakest state, when HE began to remember being with HIS DAD and the good life. JESUS remained faithful! Then the angels came to minister to HIM, with feeding HIM and giving HIM some water.

Sometimes the enemy will quote the scriptures accurately, however, are you prepared to counter attack with another scripture. Most are not. Never allow the enemy to make you question who you are in CHRIST JESUS. As you see you are not alone, JESUS like us went through the same temptations. Now you may be thinking, yeah but HE’s GOD so of course HE did not give in. Let me shine a wee bit of light on that. JESUS is man also. JESUS was birthed through Mary (humanistic); JESUS was cared for as a baby; youth; adolescent and young adult (humanistic); JESUS learned a trade and worked (humanistic); JESUS suffered and died (humanistic); JESUS was buried (humanistic) but JESUS Is Alive and that’s another teaching.

Do you remember…

Do you Remember Think before you Speak

ICON = One who is the object of great attention and devotion; an idol.
IDOL = any person or thing regarded with blind admiration, adoration, or devotion.
EXODUS 20:3 You will have no other gods before or besides ME.

Today I witness the Memorial service for Michael Joseph Jackson “The King of Pop”.

I listened to every word that most speakers said. It was amazing to me how many times the word idol and icon was used to express the energy that came from a man and his work.

How he was viewed as someone who walked in the pureness of love and innocence.
When in reality he was someone who was trying to make a difference in this world with his humanities, showing kindness and love as we all are to do.

Luke 10:30-39 (Amplified Bible)

30Jesus, [a]taking him up, replied, A certain man was going from Jerusalem down to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him of his clothes and belongings and beat him and went their way, [[b]unconcernedly] leaving him half dead, as it happened.

31Now by [c]coincidence a certain priest was going down along that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

32A Levite likewise came down to the place and saw him, and passed by on the other side [of the road].

33But a certain Samaritan, as he traveled along, came down to where he was; and when he saw him, he was moved with pity and sympathy [for him],

34And went to him and dressed his wounds, pouring on [them] oil and wine. Then he set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn and took care of him.

35And the next day he took out two denarii [two day’s wages] and gave [them] to the innkeeper, saying, Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I [myself] will repay you when I return.

To speak of him as though he was god like is to misplace him for he was in every aspect of the word human.

I have loved Michael Jackson and his brothers (The Jackson 5) since the very first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show in 1969 but Michael had more of my attention. I have followed his career and had the opportunity to attend a concert in the 1970’s in Shady Grove where his sister Janet and brother Randy were introduced and they performed their then Sonny and Cher act. Along with Janet’s rendition of Mae West. I again witnessed the splendor of the Jacksons in the 1980’s during the Victory Tour.

Time stood still for me as I witness Michael soar to another level in 1983 during the Motown 25 Celebration.

Don’t misunderstand me I love everything that has to do with Michael Jackson the entertainer because that is who I know. I don’t know his private life, yet I believed in him until our legal system said other wise and they did, NOT GUILTY.

We need to be cautious of our depiction of humans, never idolize anything or anyone for there is only one GOD, the creator of heaven and earth, above the heaven and beneath the earth and all that is within them. Humans are the only creations that are made in the image of GOD.

This is not necessarily a bad thing. However, what may come from your desire may cause trouble for you. The reality is that all people have a longing or a craving for something that brings us satisfaction. Okay, let’s see if I can make this real plain. Desire is fulfilling a real need in a wrong or correct way. It all depends on what your desire is.

  • You have health issues that can be resolved with your eating habits changing. You desire anything that has salt or sugar. That’s a real need. Over eating the required amount that will not continue to harm your health; that’s the wrong way.
  • Fulfilling a desire to be a servant everywhere you are is a need. Doing anything just to be seen doing it to get praise and glory is the wrong way.
  • To the married people; you are spending a lot of time away from your spouse due to work; school or travel. You have moments of being lonely. That’s a real need; seeking company from anyone other than your spouse is wrong. Get your spouse to you at whatever cost or you get to your spouse.
  • To the single people; if you don’t have the gift to be alone. Hurry up and find you a spouse. Women, it’s not for you to find or chase a man so you will have to be where men are where things that are happening are positive. Church; plays; movies; coffee houses; libraries; parks and so on. Do Not enter into night clubs or parties unless it’s something that is given by a fellow brother/sister in the body of CHRIST.

Seek the things that GOD wants for you.

Take delight in The LORD, and HE will give you your heart’s desire. Commit everything you do to The LORD. Trust HIM and HE will help you.

Psalm 37:4-5

If you find yourself chasing after the wrong desires. GOD has said to you.

I will give you a new heart and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. Ezekiel 36:26

To bring this home to the real is this. Your sinful flesh is the following.

  • Sexual immorality
  • Impurity
  • Lustful pleasures
  • Idolatry
  • Sorcery
  • Hostility
  • Quarreling
  • Jealousy
  • Outburst of anger
  • Selfish ambition
  • Dissension
  • Division
  • Envy
  • Drunkenness
  • Wild parties and other sins like these.

Take it for what it’s worth; if you are purposefully walking in the flesh you will not. You Will Not inherit the Kingdom of GOD. Galatians 5:19-21

I saw satan fall like lightning from heaven. Luke 10:18 Now if satan who was known as Lucifer who dwelled in heaven was kicked out; what makes you think that you will even get in?

Those of my generation and those who are older than I will remember a song made popular again due to a movie that was released during the 1970’s called “Lady Sings the Blues”. The song was recorded by Billie “Lady Day” Holiday {Good Morning Heartache}.

That song is the epitome of what one is feeling when they are in the throes of depression.

You are surrounded by sadness; gloom and dejection. Depression makes you withdraw from life and places you in the valley of despair or death. Let’s look at the very word itself. De = a prefix that is used to remove or separate from; Press = steady applied weight; weigh heavily on; hold close; grip; flatten; extract; harass; afflict; insistence; Pression = pressure.

Now let’s look at a few words that will accompany depression. Abandonment; anger; anxiety; bitterness; doubt; envy; fear; grief; guilt; hate; hopelessness; jealousy; loneliness; lust; oppression; pain; remorse; sadness; stress; struggles; weak; worry.

Believe it or not these are not the total of what people go through. For forty years I lived with depression and bless GOD that I failed at every attempt of suicide. I was delivered from depression in 2003 and my life is like a grand theme park. I try everyday yet I can’t soak in all the goodness that GOD has to offer. I enjoy life. My life is filled with everlasting joy; no longer just words on a page; now I know and I want others especially CHRISTians to live a life of joy.

Depression is not from GOD it comes from the devil. The thing is he’s not satisfied with you being the only one who is depressed and more often than not you can find that depression is a generational curse of the family. If you were to check your mother or father’s background or watch the mood swings of either or both parents you will see what I’m speaking of. Depression is also an enemy and friend to the one who has it. The person wants desperately to be full of life yet when depression begins to arise within them it’s also a comfort. Remember that song I mentioned earlier; “Good Morning Heartache” here is the lyrics I guarantee that those of you who suffer with this debilitating demon can relate to this song.

Good morning heartache; you old gloomy sight

Good morning heartache; thought we said good bye last night.

I turned and tossed ti’l it seemed you had gone; but here you are with the dawn.

Wish I’d forget you; but you’re here to stay; it seems I met you when my love went away.

Now every day I start my saying to you; good morning heartache; what’s new?

Stop haunting me now; can’t shake you know how.

Just leave me alone; I’ve got those Monday blues; straight thru Sunday blues.

Good morning heartache; here we go again.

Good morning heartache; you’re the one who knew me when.

Might as well get used to you; hangin around.

Good morning heartache; sit down.

Is that a depressing song or what?

Yet that song as I said before is the epitome of how those who suffer with depression go through life.

Depression is not your friend and I am begging you to first get medical help. Talk with someone; take the medication as prescribed. However understand this; medication only makes the giant sleep. Just as David did with Goliath you must bring that giant down. Depression is an uncircumcised Philistine.

Bring it down and cut its head off!

Come to the end of yourself; become sick and tired of you and where you are. Desire more from GOD. Get in a place by yourself and get very real with GOD about you and begin to forgive all those who caused you such great harm. Ask GOD to deliver you and then to replace all that HE takes out of you with the Holy Spirit so that you can see; hear; speak; move; think and love in the fruit of the spirit. Galatians 5:22

Right now you may think that your circumstances are hopeless; not so.

I know that The LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken because I know that HE is right here with me. My heart is glad and I will rejoice in The LORD. My body rests in HIS safety. GOD will show me the way of life; granting me the joy of HIS presence and the pleasure of living with HIM forever. Psalm 16:18-11

You may feel like you can’t fight the sadness; this is okay because you are going to also take this prescription from GOD.

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; HE rescues those whose spirits are crushed. Psalm 34:18

GOD lifts you out of the pit of despair. Psalm 40:2

Did you know that music not noise music that is cheerful; that makes you wanna dance; music that gives praise to GOD helps with depression? For me music is not a sin so I still listen to my secular music of the 60’s & 70’s. Also watching as many comedy shows on TV as you can find that are clean that is. Andy Griffith; I Love Lucy; The Jefferson’s; they even put Jack Benny back on the air. Well anyhow you get my drift; you want to surround yourself with laughter this pulls the depression off of you faster. If you have small kids please keep them near you, my son kept me laughing when he was growing up as well as my daughter. As adults they are still funny however because I no longer have depression “Thank YOU JESUS” I enjoy them in a completely different light and I yearn for those moments when I get to see them because I lost too much time with them due to depression. The key factor here is DO NOT ISOLATE YOURSELF!

To make a judgment; a need of making up your mind; come to a resolution; to be firm in mind; a conclusion.

I look at that and ask myself; what more needs to be said? However, I could not leave this as is because it is important for me that the reader comes to JESUS by seeing that coming to HIM or living in HIM is not difficult.

Everyone who is in JESUS CHRIST must be delivered from the judging of others. Understand me now the Bible makes sin perfectly clear. However to people there may be a sin that truly is a sin for them and not you. Stop exhausting your strength over trivial things. Read this and be liberated. Romans 14

I used to think that a person who could not make up their mind was being influence by those who are communicating with him/her. I found out this is not always so; I really know a person who is the epitome of a person who cannot make a decision. This is what the Bible has to say about such a person.

James 1:6-8

But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from The LORD; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Rev 3:15-16

“I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of MY mouth.

Now when you have made your decision after careful consideration and prayer for direction your answer in most cases is a simple answer.

Matt 5:37

But let your “Yes be Yes”; and your “No, No.” For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.

Also have you ever noticed that when you have to answer “no” you feel that you are compelled to give an explanation; yet when you say “yes” explanation is rarely required? Think about that.

When you are facing life choices as in all things GOD will lead you and direct you into all truth. If you are really in tuned to HIS voice you will not be lead astray.

Show me the right path, LORD; point out the road for me to follow…Who are those who fear The LORD? HE will show them the path they should choose. Psalm 25:4; 12

Commit everything you do to The LORD. Trust HIM, and HE will help you. Psalm 37:5

I know that renewing the mind can be challenging. You make a decision to do what is right so that you can give GOD glory through your life and you mess up. Okay; pick yourself up; dust yourself off ask HIM for forgiveness and help. Begin again; don’t lose your weave over it. Men I don’t know what you trip from so whatever it is the encouragement is for you too; just delete the weave part. (maybe….LOL)

When you’re having trouble sticking to what you’ve decided remind yourself and remind GOD of your commitment.

I have chosen to be faithful; I have determined to live by your regulations GOD. Psalm 119:30

Don’t get tired in well doing. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Galatians 6:9

Most times than not just when we are at the threshold of getting our promise we make mistakes and give up. Women you can relate to this. Bringing forth your child is hard work yet you don’t give up. You keep pushing and your promise is in your arms; you are no longer an expecting mother; you are now a mother.

When your bad choices come back to haunt you and they will because the enemy loves to remind us of who we once were. So you have to shut him down and say something like this. “The number you have called is no longer a working number please check the number and if you desire try again” If old stupid tries again you come back with “I am a new creation in CHRIST JESUS; those old things have passed away from me; behold all things about me have become new”. 2 Cor. 5:17

Come back to the place of safety, all you prisoners who still have hope! I promise this very day that I will repay two blessings for each of your troubles. Zech. 9:12
