JESUS Family pt. 3

We are taking notice at the division of the Monarchy; what happens when we are in earthly authority and we turn from The LORD GOD. Also take notice what happens when the King turns the heart of his followers back to The LORD GOD. Remember, The LORD GOD is the same yesterday, today and forever; which means that what HE did for the Kings who worshipped HIM; HE will do in America if the President, present or future will turn the hearts of the Americans back to The LORD GOD. This is also true for countries that are ruled by a Monarchy.

Solomon /the wisest man to live; sat on the throne before the death of his father per King David’s order.  The first 20 years of his reign were awesome because he walked with The LORD GOD; he built a temple for The LORD GOD; the second half was marred by idolatry due to his wives who were idolaters and swayed him to turn from The LORD GOD. Solomon did not obey the commandment of The LORD GOD so he married women whom The LORD GOD said not to from Ammonites, Edomites, Hittites, Moabites and Sidonians; all of whom did just what The LORD GOD said they would do.   “You shall not intermarry with them, or they with you. Surely they will turn away your hearts after their gods.” 1 Kings 11:1-3; Solomon was so strung out for these women, he just could not get enough; he had 700 wives and 300 concubines (mistress) a total of 1000 women in his palace that he slept with and had children. (I would say that he lost his ability to make wise decisions; yet he will still be known as the only man who walked with such great wisdom and no one has been given that gift since.) 2 Samuel 12; 1 Kings 1-11; 1 Chrn. 1-9; 22:7-16; 2 Chrn. 2:3-7; 8:2-6; 9:17-19; Eccl. 2:4-6

Rehoboam /became King after the death of his father King Solomon. He was an uncompassionate ruler and without wisdom. This divided the kingdom; (1 Kings 11:31; 12:4, 6-16, 18, 21-24; 14:21, 25-26, 31; 2 Chrn. 11:1-12; 12:5-9, 13).

Abijah /the wicked King who ascended to the throne after the death of his father. His reign lasted three years and he did everything imaginable that was against The LORD GOD. 1 Chrn. 3:10; 2 Chrn. 11:20-22; 12:16; 13:1-2, 5-12; 1 Kings 14:31; 15:1-8.

Asa /the third King of Judah worshipped The LORD GOD and set out to remove the root of idolatry and immorality in his land. The LORD gave him rest and prosperity. This King reigned for forty-one years and was greatly honored by his people. 1 Kings 15:8-14; 2 Chrn. 16:1-13.

Jehoshaphat /this King was known for searching The LORD GOD with all his heart. He too as his father sought out to cleanse the land of idolatry. He had the Priest and Levites to instruct the people in the law. He and his people enjoyed a great measure of peace and prosperity. He did however make a couple of mistakes by joining forces with some Kings that he should have stayed clear of.  King Jehoshaphat witnessed Mesha offering his eldest son to chemosh the fire god which horrified King Jehoshaphat and he got out of there. The final victory before his death was that the Moabites came against him; he and his people were afraid but they went to The LORD GOD in prayer. The LORD GOD answered the prayer by causing contention among the Moabites and they began to kill themselves. This was a great deliverance provided to them by The LORD GOD. 2 Chrn. 17:1-2, 7-9; 19:1-11; 20:35-37; 22:9; 1 Kings 22:1-33, 43, 48-50; 2 Kings 3:4-27.
