Honesty

Are you fair with people and circumstances?

Are you clear about what you have to say and what your motives are?

      How is your integrity?

These are just a few things that are dealt with when it comes to our being honest. When I was a child I was abused and my only defense which did not work was to lie. To say whatever I thought was needed to for me to say to keep me from being hit or called evil names and told that I was not loved. My grandmother taught me to trust and that if and when I do wrong if I would only tell her the truth when she ask me a question she cannot promise that she will not be angry with me. However, she will get over her anger; say what she has to say and move on never to bring the incident up to me again. But if I lied and she found out the truth on her own she will harbor her anger against me longer than necessary and may punish me beyond my crime of being disobedient. It was not easy because fear had completely over taken my life and I was a nervous wreck by age 9. However, when I began to test my grandmother I saw that it worked the first time. It did not cause me to immediately try a second time; however, when I did her promise was true. The third time was easier though I was still afraid; and again her promise to me remained faithful. I decided that if or when I did do anything that was not pleasing to my grandmother I would simply reply with the truth and learn to do better in that area. My grandmother remained faithful in all her promises to me until she crossed over into a restful sleep waiting on her resurrection. I too used this tool with my children; now that I’m a grandmother I pray that my grandchild experience forgiveness; mercy and grace from his parents so that as he is taught about the forgiveness that is given to him by GOD through the shed blood of JESUS he will understand and ready to receive.

When we have lied and dishonest for so long in our lives; it’s not very easy to just stop and when we experience set backs from humans because they do not understand this process. It causes us to remain on the same road we are comfortable traveling on. However, it is impossible to walk in the Spirit and acknowledge JESUS living in our lives and we are continually dishonest. Don’t give up; think about your integrity your honesty how you will want it to protect you because you don’t put your hope in anyone or anything except JESUS.

Psalm 25:21

What a joy to know that GOD has cleared our record of guilt and now our lives are lived in complete honesty. Psalm  32:2

Honesty guides good people; the godly are directed by honesty. Proverbs 11:3-5

If and when you are tempted to lie and believe me you will be; think on this. Truthful words stand the test of time. Proverbs 12:19

And most importantly “Don’t lie to one another, you must strip off your sinful nature and its wicked deeds. Put on your new nature and be renewed as you learn to know your CREATOR and become like HIM.

Colossians 3:9-10
