We all need it. We all know what its use is for us. However, do we realize who or what is in control of our fiscal situation?
We learn from an early age about the power of money. In my early childhood candy was a penny. Soda pop bottles were returnable and you got a nickel. The ice cream man much like today would come; ringing his bells (in my child hood) or playing a tune (now) and we all screamed ice cream. We would run to our parents or grandparents and ask for some money to buy some ice cream. You see, we knew that being cute and all smiles and looking sad was not going to get us the ice cream. We needed the money and so did the ice cream man. Now my question is this; has anyone taught and reinforced within you that in order to obtain money you must get an education? Depending on the amount of money you would like to earn you must study all the harder; excel in your grades; graduate and never think that you have reached a plateau. Your diploma or degree does not equate to your being done with learning. You must always thirst for knowledge. We need money to survive in this world; it’s a fact. However, though we need money; money does not need us. We must own the money; never allow the money to own us. Never allow your heart to be filled with a need for money that it becomes your god; your lord. Money must serve you; you don’t serve the money. Acknowledge that first and foremost GOD has provided each of us with a brain to discover all that HE has put here on earth to bring glory to HIM. Example: Ben Franklin discovered electricity and now the electricity has been harnessed for our use; however, we must purchase the use of what GOD has already provided to us for free. Now let’s flip the script to the dark side. GOD has given us every flower; herb and plant that provides something to our 5 senses. We can adore its beauty; cook with it; heal with it or kill with it. We joke and laugh when we hear or say that “GOD has given us the herb to partake; it’s from the earth and it’s good for us” or something to that effect. It’s not a laughing matter; we have gotten lost in the game of greed and lust for the dollar. It’s not almighty; it can’t think or speak. Yet, some of us serve money as if it is the GOD of creation. Money will not and cannot deliver you from the pit of hell; but it sure can usher you there. GOD did not say to us that money was evil; HE knows that we need money to purchase our food; to purchase clothes for our bodies; to purchase homes for our dwelling; to buy a car or to take public transportation. HE knows all of this. However, what HE did say is that “the love of money is the root of all evil”. When you see that others honestly are in need of help and you have the money to help them; do you? You don’t have to give the person the money if you don’t trust them; however, you can purchase what it is that they are in need of. When you go or miss church do you still give your 10% of your gross income? You know the IRS takes 20-25% right off the top and you never complain as much or as loud as you do when it comes to the 10% that you are commanded to give. What’s ruling who or better yet who’s ruling what? There is an ancient saying that goes “pull on a woman’s purse strings and you’ll find her heart”. Well that goes for a man as well. Remember Cain and Abel one was obedient and served GOD with his best the other was disobedient and gave GOD whatever. From that, jealousy broke out and murder was committed. When times are tough and you just don’t have enough money.
Seek the kingdom of GOD above all else, and live righteously, and HE will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:33
For those of you who manage money and don’t allow money to manage you.
Give and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full-pressed down; shaken together to make room for more; running over and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back. Luke 6:38
When you find yourself always wanting more and when you get it; it’s never enough.
Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness. Ecclesiastes 5:10
