Remember GOD (Eccl. 12:1)
In this scripture it is requested that we remember GOD while we are young. Though the actual word in most translations is youth; which means from puberty to young adult. Because I accepted JESUS at 17; I must confess that it was not until then that I thought about GOD more than I ever had. For the most part because I was giddy with joy of my salvation; the other I really love GOD. No one thinks about someone that they do not love consistently. So I would have to agree that the younger a person is when GOD re-enters your life the better. Now I’m not saying that in my young adult life that I did not do the expected stupid things that most young adults do. What I am saying is that though I made many stupid mistakes; I often thought about GOD.
Because I grew up viewing the movie during Easter; The Ten Commandments with Charleston Heston as Moses. I was provoked to read the Bible just to find out if the movie is true. Then there was Ben Hur with Charleston Heston; it is supposed to be a Biblical movie. It’s not; it’s just a great movie. However, because I enjoyed those movies it created in me not only a desire to find out if the movies were fictional or non-fictional but it caused me to learn more about GOD. I thought about GOD in the creation process; how HE delivered the Jews from Egypt; how HE allowed certain situations to happen in families and then showed HIMSELF delivering forgiveness for the wrong done and so on. In the Old Testament we get to see the Law and Order of GOD and in the New Testament we get to see HIS Grace and Mercy. GOD teaches us how HE left heaven to engulf HIMSELF in flesh and become submissive to HIS human parents. HE had to learn how to walk and talk and obey just as we do. Though HE was fully GOD; HE was fully human. This lets me know that when we come to GOD through JESUS; we are full of GOD and like JESUS we must learn how to walk and talk according to the Word of GOD. Remember, JESUS is the Word and while HE was growing up in human form HE was being taught by HIS earthly father to be human and HE was being taught by HIS Creator FATHER to walk in HIS authority according to what GOD said HE is and can do. GOD has given us a perfect example through JESUS. There is nothing we can’t accomplish when we rely totally on GOD through JESUS. You name it, it’s in the Bible. So you see; in everything we do and say we must remember GOD.
I only chose few scriptures for GOD; it was hard because the entire Bible is about GOD.
