Remember When…

Remember When….

Thinking back on my childhood, I was reflecting on how during the time I was a wee girl we did not have the number of super heroes as the boys did. The boys had Aquaman, Batman, Ironman, and Superman and so on. The girls had Wonder Woman.

I love how GOD uses my love of music, movies, TV shows, comic books and so on like the ordinary every day of my world to explain HIS Word. People make the Word of GOD so difficult when it’s so pre-schoolish. But then years ago I came to the realization as to why people make living in GODs Word so hard. It’s because of what we went through and we sow that into the lives of others. For example as children we trust everyone and everything but something happens to cause us to know longer trust and we roll that over into our faith walk.

But let’s just go back to the days when we would read our comic books or watch our super heroes on TV or at the movies. Remember that feeling of happiness you got? Great huh? Well because I can’t speak much on the super heroes of the boys though I enjoyed them as well, GOD had me to think about Wonder Woman and her weapons. First Wonder Woman was adorned in a beautiful costume that reminded us of the American Flag. Upon her head was her Golden Tierra, on her wrists were the indestructible bracelets and around her waist was the Lasso of Truth.

Wonder Woman’s costume was to show that she loved America and that she fought for truth, justice and the American way (its beliefs). Her bracelets repelled bullets, her Golden Tierra was a double dagger and throwing weapon that would return to her as a boomerang. And last but not least the famous Golden Lasso of Truth those bound by it are forced to tell the truth.

Are you starting to get the connection between Wonder Woman’s weapons and the Word of GOD? Okay let’s go a bit further. In Ephesians 6:10-18

We are told to put on the entire armor of GOD. Wonder Woman never entered a fight unless she had on her full armor and if you remember after she did her little twirl she would check to see that they were all in place. Now let me make some points.

1)    “Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power”

2)   Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes

3)   Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist

4)  The breastplate of righteousness in place

5)   Your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

6)   Take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one

7)   Take the helmet of salvation

8)   The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God

9)   Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests

GOD has given us weapons to fight with but here are some differences, follow these points.

a)    Wonder Woman was strong because she was taught and told daily that she was a goddess and that she had been given strength from other gods. She was continually being encouraged. GOD is doing the same for us. Daily we have HIS Word to encourage us and to remind us of who we are, we are strengthened by HIM alone our True and Living GOD who is the Creator of everything and all. (Ps.82:6; Jhn. 10:34-36; Acts 9:22)

b)    Wonder Woman would do her little twirl and she was transformed from Diana Princes to Wonder Woman wearing her full armor for battle. The problem with us is that we want to go into battle without armor. She also knew who her enemies were and there schemes. Hmm.

c)    Wonder Woman has her Golden Lasso buckled around her waist and we have our Belt of Truth buckled around ours. Her Golden Lasso would make her enemies tell the truth against their will our Belt of Truth makes us tell the truth against our nature. ( Ex.20:16; Mt.15:18-19)

d)   Wonder Woman did not have a breastplate for protection she used her Indestructible Bracelets to shield her body. We have a Breastplate of Righteousness which protects all of our internal organs from what the enemy throws our way.

e)   Wonder Woman was fitted with some pretty jazzy red boots; we however, are fitted with readiness in season and out of season due to the gospel of peace. Pretty jazzy huh?

f)    Wonder Woman had great faith in America and this is why she fought for America’s beliefs and safety. We have great and unwavering faith in our GOD and HIS SON, JESUS. We believe every promise and encouraging word. This is our shield of faith we stand behind GOD the FATHER, JESUS and The Holy Spirit. We stand behind The Word of GOD. We stand with the angels of heaven. We stand together in faith. This is our shield.

g)    Wonder Woman had a Golden Tierra that was a double dagger that was a weapon when thrown, it would return to her as a boomerang. We have a Helmet of Salvation that is a double dagger that protects our minds against the enemies attack. When he speaks to you it is first that we think of the Word of GOD but for it to become effective we must voice the Word of GOD. Do this exercise: Think of anything, concentrate on that thing very hard. Now speak anything. What happened? Did you stop thinking of whatever it was you were thinking? Our minds must stop to listen to what our mouths are saying. So with the Helmet of Salvation our minds like a boomerang returns transformed unto GOD. (Prov. 18:21, Rmns.12:2)

h)    Well Wonder Woman has no other weapons that she will use but we have a Sword. It’s the Word of GOD and it’s double edged which cuts to the very marrow of the bone. Use this weapon daily, wisely and fearlessly. (Heb.4:12,                  2 Tim. 2:15)

i)     Ever notice that Diana Princes is ahead of Major Steve Trevor 85%-90% of the time. This is because she was his secretary; which placed her in a position to be told privileged information, sometimes Diana would listen in on phone calls too but non-the less she was aware of the enemies’ devices and schemes. We could be in the know as well with a greater percentage than Diana Princess. How? Through PRAYER. Prayer is simple; it’s just a conversation between you and GOD. It does not have to be ceremonious or elaborate. Just talk. But remember in a conversation someone must talk and someone must listen. (Acts.10:30-32; Philip.1:19; 1 Ptr. 3:12 and Gal.6:7)
