Simply put its constant communication with our CREATOR, GOD.
People don’t pray for the most common reasons; they’ve not been taught to pray and the importance of prayer. They’ve not established a relationship with GOD. They rely on their
senses; because GOD is not seen they don’t want to look foolish speaking to someone they can’t see and their faith is not built on the fact that HE really exist.
So now that we have been shown why we may not pray; what is it that we should say to GOD? Whatever is on your heart; HE knows who you are. If you are angry with HIM; tell HIM so. If you are hurting; tell HIM so. If you want to tell HIM a joke; tell it to HIM. We are more apt to speak to something that will not speak back to us before we are willing to speak to a living GOD who will speak with us. For example; how many people have spoken to their cars; the appliances in their home; your closet when trying to chose an attire for the day and the correct shoes and jewelry? Let me share with you the blue print of prayer. JESUS said in the book of Matthew that we are to pray in this manner. First there is:
Adoration and Recognition: “Our FATHER, who is in heaven, Holy is YOUR name.” GOD is worthy of our praise and we should begin each day with adoration of HIS greatness, love, forgiveness, faithfulness, and holiness. GOD has many attributes that requires our praise.
Supplication: “YOUR Kingdom come. YOUR will be done. On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. “ We need GOD to provide us with food just for the day. We need food for our physical body and we need food for our spiritual body which is HIS Word. There are also needs we may have due to lack of finances; so we must go to HIM and ask HIM for HIS provisions in every area of need in our life. Nothing is off limits when it’s according to HIS will.
AcKnowledge: “Forgive our sins as we forgive those who sins against us. Do not lead us into temptation but deliver us from the evil one. YOURS is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever. Amen.” Though JESUS has forgiven all our sins past, present and future. We come to GOD admitting that we are sinners and that we cannot cleanse ourselves of
unrighteousness without HIM. There is nothing that we can do to get in HIS right standing without confession, acceptance, belief and faith in HIS SON, JESUS.
Also we were reminded by JESUS that all we have to do is ask, seek and knock and the FATHER will hear and provide.
Ask, Seek, Knock; did you recognize that in the blueprint of prayer that all we simply do is ASK?

When we love GOD we desire to speak with HIM often. Did you know that JESUS prayed to HIS FATHER about HIS reluctance to go through with dying? However, HIS desire to do GOD’s will was far greater than HIS own will. What a great reason to give praise! In HIS prayer JESUS received the power to do what HE came to do. Prayer also gives us an opportunity to express our gratitude for all that GOD has done in our lives. JESUS HIMSELF prayed a prayer of thanks to HIS FATHER. JESUS teaches us to pray in private and with others. However, it is in our solitude with GOD that we receive our encouragement, instruction and inspiration of our spiritual power to execute the task for the day. A CHRISTian’s prayer must be persistent, bold, in faith, specific and in JESUS name. If for any reason our request are not being granted it’s because of these points.
- It’s not GOD’s will for our life. 1Jhn.5:14-15
- It’s not GOD’s timing. Ps. 37:7
- We have unconfessed sin in our lives. Ps.66:8; Jms.5:16
- We are angry or there is unforgivingness with someone. Matt.5:23-24
- There is family division. 1Ptr.3:7
