Do you remember…

Do you Remember Think before you Speak

ICON = One who is the object of great attention and devotion; an idol.
IDOL = any person or thing regarded with blind admiration, adoration, or devotion.
EXODUS 20:3 You will have no other gods before or besides ME.

Today I witness the Memorial service for Michael Joseph Jackson “The King of Pop”.

I listened to every word that most speakers said. It was amazing to me how many times the word idol and icon was used to express the energy that came from a man and his work.

How he was viewed as someone who walked in the pureness of love and innocence.
When in reality he was someone who was trying to make a difference in this world with his humanities, showing kindness and love as we all are to do.

Luke 10:30-39 (Amplified Bible)

30Jesus, [a]taking him up, replied, A certain man was going from Jerusalem down to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him of his clothes and belongings and beat him and went their way, [[b]unconcernedly] leaving him half dead, as it happened.

31Now by [c]coincidence a certain priest was going down along that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

32A Levite likewise came down to the place and saw him, and passed by on the other side [of the road].

33But a certain Samaritan, as he traveled along, came down to where he was; and when he saw him, he was moved with pity and sympathy [for him],

34And went to him and dressed his wounds, pouring on [them] oil and wine. Then he set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn and took care of him.

35And the next day he took out two denarii [two day’s wages] and gave [them] to the innkeeper, saying, Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I [myself] will repay you when I return.

To speak of him as though he was god like is to misplace him for he was in every aspect of the word human.

I have loved Michael Jackson and his brothers (The Jackson 5) since the very first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show in 1969 but Michael had more of my attention. I have followed his career and had the opportunity to attend a concert in the 1970’s in Shady Grove where his sister Janet and brother Randy were introduced and they performed their then Sonny and Cher act. Along with Janet’s rendition of Mae West. I again witnessed the splendor of the Jacksons in the 1980’s during the Victory Tour.

Time stood still for me as I witness Michael soar to another level in 1983 during the Motown 25 Celebration.

Don’t misunderstand me I love everything that has to do with Michael Jackson the entertainer because that is who I know. I don’t know his private life, yet I believed in him until our legal system said other wise and they did, NOT GUILTY.

We need to be cautious of our depiction of humans, never idolize anything or anyone for there is only one GOD, the creator of heaven and earth, above the heaven and beneath the earth and all that is within them. Humans are the only creations that are made in the image of GOD.
