Repent

This is so important to me to write about that I want to take careful time through this subject in order to break down this thing called Repentance.

Repentance has an important part in the salvation process and it’s important throughout your life time on this side of heaven. Repentance is what begins to free us up from all the lies and guilt that we have hidden within our hearts.

First I want us to know the definition of Repentance: deep sorrow, for a past sin, a wrongdoing; remorse; regret for any past thought; vocalization and action.

There is no way possible that we are going to remember each and every wrong doing that we have said; thought or did. The first acknowledgment is often done quietly. In our mind, our conscience begins to work overtime on us. We begin to realize that we are wrong and we may begin to think of those things that we are wrong about. We feel sad for what we have thought, said and done. We also begin to feel uncomfortable about those things so much so we can no longer take it. I like how Luke 13:3 is written in the Amplified Bible. I tell you, No; but unless you repent (change your mind for the better and heartily amend your ways, with abhorrence = hate of your past sins), you will all likewise perish and be lost eternally. [AMFB-SDH Min. italicized & underlined key words] Repentance is a must because none of us are born saved from our mother’s womb. “You were completely born in sins,” John 9:34

It is our nature to turn from GOD because we don’t know GOD. Yet we instinctively know that there is a GOD. We must be taught about our Creator GOD. We must be taught how to think right, to say good words, to do well. We never have to be taught how to sin. Don’t believe me or understand? Spend some time around a home that has a baby who is growing up in a home that does not have a relationship with JESUS and has a baby between the age of 1 and 3. These are the years independence come into play. Crawling, standing and walking. The child begins to understand his/her native language. The older people may not have a relationship with JESUS but they will teach the child right from wrong. The child has begun to know what to touch and what not to touch during these exploring years of growth. The child shows signs of knowing he/she should not do something but tries anyway. The child goes to something, looks at it then begins to look for you to see if you are watching him/her. Then the child touches what he/she has been taught not to touch. The child then pretend they don’t know what they did was wrong when you begin to correct. It’s the very same scenario for the home that has a relationship with JESUS. So I’ve taken the long way round just to write this; we all have turned from GOD and we all should eventually want to return to GOD.

“Return, you backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings.”   “Indeed we do come to YOU, for YOU are the LORD our GOD. Jer. 3:22

Repentance will cause you to become truly sorry for all that you thought, said and did that are not like GOD. The sacrifice that YOU desire is a broken spirit *[an attitude or principle that inspires, animates, or pervades thought, feeling, or action]; GOD will not reject a broken and repentant heart. Ps. 51:17
